Administrative district

Administrative district means the Sami language administrative district defined pursuant to § 3.1 of the Act concerning the Sameting (the Sami parliament) and other Sami legal matters (the Sami Act). Special rules relating to the use of the Sami language apply in the administrative district. At 1 October 2009, the area consists of the municipalities of Tysfjord, Kåfjord, Kautokeino, Porsanger, Karasjok, Tana, Nesseby, Lavangen and Snåsa. In these municipalities, pupils will receive tuition in accordance with the Sami Curriculum for Knowledge Promotion in Primary and Secondary Education and Training. Pupils within the administrative district are also included under the individual counties in the table.
