Main income earner - The main income earner is the person in the household who has the highest gross income of the income earners in the household. In those cases where there is no income earner in the household, the oldest person is the main income earner. Student households and children below the age of 18 years who are living alone, are excluded. Figures for 2020 were corrected on September 2, 2022. Salary compensation for those who are temporarily laid off ('lønnskompensasjon') was included twice in the calculation of total income, and thus figures for total income were about 7 billion NOK too high.
