A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

For a statistical material, the percentiles are the 99 variable values (P1-P99) that divide the material into 100 equal parts. For example, P10 (the tenth percentile) is the variable value where 10 percent of the observations are less than P10. P50 is the median.
Student households and children below the age of 18 who are living alone, are excluded. Figures for 2020 were corrected on September 2, 2022. Salary compensation for those who are temporarily laid off ('lønnskompensasjon') was included twice in the calculation of total income, and thus figures for total income were about 7 billion NOK too high.
