Expenses of somatic institutions increase the most


Gross operating expenses of specialist health service institutions increased by 9.5 per cent from 1996 to 1997. Expenses of somatic institutions increased by nearly 10 per cent while the expenses of psychiatric institutions increased by 7.7 per cent.
In 1997, the gross operating expenses of institutions within the somatic specialist health service totalled NOK 26.6 billion, while for psychiatry it was NOK 6.7 billion.

Wages increase the most

Wages and social expenses increased 10.2 per cent. Medical equipment expenses declined 8.6 per cent. It should be noted that equipment valued at NOK 50,000 or more must be posted in the financial account. These expenses are not included here. Expenses for other equipment and maintenance rose 1.6 per cent. Medication and medical goods expenses increased by 8.5 per cent. Other operating expenses and transfers were also higher.
