NOK 25,000 more to families with small children

Couples with small children (0-6 years of age) saw their income after taxes increase by NOK 25,000 from 1995 to 1996. The sharp increase is primarily because of higher occupational income (wage and entrepreneurial income). Families of small children had an average income after taxes of NOK 346,300 in 1996.

The incomes of families of small children have been rising for some time. From 1986-1996 the real income of this group after tax grew 21 per cent. Other groups that have also had strong growth in income in the same period are middle-aged couples without children (45-64 years of age) and pensioner couples, with a real growth of 18 and 19 per cent respectively.
