Balance of payments, October 1996:

NOK 57.4 billion surplus


Preliminary figures show a current account surplus of NOK 57.4 billion for Norway in the period from January to October 1996. This is an increase of NOK 32.1 billion from the same period the year before. In October 1996 alone, the surplus was NOK 4.9 billion..
The export surplus of goods and services totalled in the first 10 months of last year NOK 76.5 billion, NOK 28.7 billion more than during the same period in 1995. The surplus for January to October 1996 is divided between goods and services with respectively NOK 70.6 and NOK 5.9 billion.

A deficit of NOK 19 billion has been calculated for the interest and transfers balance for January to October 1996. For the same period in 1995 the deficit was NOK 22.5 billion.
