Vest-Agder tops building statistics


Vest-Agder County in southern Norway leads the nation in the number of housing starts recorded in the autumn months of September, October and November, with two starts per 1,000 inhabitants in this period. For the nation as a whole the comparative figure is 1.3 homes.
Finnmark and Nord-Trøndelag also show high figures for housing starts relative to the number of residents. During these months Finnmark had 1.9 housing starts per 1,000 inhabitants, while the figure for Nord-Trøndlag was 1.8.

Slowdown in November

A total of 1,599 housing starts were registered in November in Norway, 23 per cent fewer than in the same month in 1995 and also low in comparison to 1993 and 1994. Housing starts in November 1993 numbered 2,057, climbing to 2,222 in November 1994. In the first 11 months of 1996 the number of housing starts was 11 per cent lower compared to the same period in 1995.
