Real property sales continue to rise

The first three quarters of 1996 saw a 2.5 per cent rise in the number of properties sold in Norway compared to the same period last year. In terms of value, sales were up 11.3 per cent in the same period.

A total of 98,700 properties were sold in the first three quarters of this year, against 96,300 in the same period last year. This is an increase of 2.5 per cent. The increase from 1993 to 1994 and from 1994 to 1995 was 15.4 and 2.6 per cent, respectively.

The value of the properties sold in the three first quarters this year totalled NOK 47.9 billion. This is 11.3 per cent higher than the turnover in the first three quarters of 1995. In the two previous years the sales value increased by 31.3 and 15.9 per cent, respectively.

In terms of numbers, homes and holiday properties are the two largest categories, making up altogether 83 per cent of sales. Nine out of 10 sales are built properties, while one out of 10 concerns sites or lots only.
