Foreign trade in goods, third quarter 1996:

High export volume


Norway exported NOK 76.2 billion worth of merchandise in the third quarter. This is 19 per cent more than in third quarter 1995. Excluding ships and oil platforms, exports totalled NOK 75.4 billion, an increase of 24 per cent compared to this period last year. High oil prices pushed the average price of Norwegian exports up 10 per cent over third quarter 1995, while there has been a 13 per cent increase in volume during this period.

The volume index for crude oil was 16 per cent higher compared to third quarter last year. Exports of traditional goods were also high, and the volume index for these was eight per cent higher compared to third quarter 1995. Seasonally adjusted figures show a volume increase of 3.5 per cent from the second quarter of this year for exports excluding ships and oil platforms, and an increase of 0.4 per cent for traditional goods.
