Strong decline in production and consumption of electricity

Norway's production of electricity totalled 5,981 GWh in August, down 30 per cent from the same month the year before. This is the lowest level of power production for August since 1982. Gross consumption totalled 6,910 GWh, down 10 per cent from the year before. Imports were extremely high in August, totalling 1,054 GWh, 17 per cent of total consumption.

Here, production dropped by respectively 62, 50 and 52 per cent compared to the same month last year. So far this year, production has amounted to 72,095 GWh, down 8 per cent from the same period last year. Imports this year have totalled 6,881 GWh, which is three and a half times higher compared to the same period last year. Exports from January to August have totalled 3,718 GWh, down 33 per cent from last year. Exports in August totalled 125 GWh, which is 86 per cent lower compared to the same month last year.
