Energy accounts and energy balance. Final 1994 figures. Prelim. 1995 figures:

Households are using more energy

Energy consumption by households has increased in recent years, rising in both 1994 and 1995. Most of the growth is due to higher consumption of electricity, which increased by around six per cent from 1994 to 1995. Total household energy use increased last year by around three per cent from the year before.

The consumption of wood by households has risen steadily in recent years, while consumption of oil is down somewhat. Petrol consumption has declined since 1990, due to increased petrol taxes and other factors. Consumption of diesel has, however, risen some.
