Home-building down 30 percent

February was the third month in a row with a low number of housing starts. During the winter months from December 1995 to February 1996, only 3,534 housing starts were registered, down from 5,049 starts during the same period last year.

Apart from the high figures noted in October and November 1995, the number of new homes has been sinking at an even pace since peaking the fall of 1994. Oslo is still one of the counties with the largest decline in housing construction.
