Increased cash flow

Incoming and outgoing bank transfers between Norway and abroad increased from the first quarter of 2013 to the second quarter of 2013. The cash flow between Norway and abroad for non-financial enterprises and private individuals has never been greater.

Bank transfers to Norway ended at NOK 513 billion in the second quarter of 2013, which is the highest figure recorded since the statistics were established, and NOK 60 billion more than in the first quarter of 2013.

Outgoing transfers ended at NOK 500 billion in the second quarter; an increase of NOK 63 billion from the previous quarter.

Compared to the second quarter of 2012, incoming transfers were up NOK 27 billion, or five per cent, and outgoing transfers increased by NOK 47 billion, or 11 per cent.

Increased cash flow with Nordic and EU countries

The fact that Norway has a lot of trade and other economic relations with neighbouring countries is clearly visible in the bank transfers between Norway and abroad. Transfers from the Nordic countries went up from the first quarter to the second quarter in 2013, increasing by 14 per cent to a total of NOK 202 billion. Non-Nordic EU countries transferred NOK 220 billion to Norway, an increase of NOK 21 billion from the first quarter.

Transfers from Norway to abroad increased most to the Nordic and EU countries, rising by NOK 28 billion and NOK 32 billion respectively. The value of outgoing transfers to Nordic and EU countries ended at NOK 423 billion, and accounted for 85 per cent of the total outgoing transfers.

Large increase for the information and communication industry

Enterprises within the information and communication industry received NOK 54 billion from incoming bank transfers in the second quarter. This was an increase of 65 per cent from the previous quarter. During the same period, the industry transferred NOK 49 billion abroad.

As in the previous quarters, manufacturing enterprises had the largest share of both incoming and outgoing transfers, with a share of nearly 30 per cent respectively. The manufacturing industry sent NOK 146 billion out of Norway and received NOK 147 billion from abroad.

Bank transfers from abroad 2.8 per cent higher value than outgoing

Norwegian non-financial enterprises and private persons received 2.8 per cent more than they sent out of the country, equalling a net inward transfer of NOK 15 billion.

North and Central American countries had the largest net transfers to Norway. Bank transfers from this region were NOK 30 billion more than the transfers sent from Norway.

Private persons transferred nearly NOK 10 billion out of Norway during the second quarter, while receiving NOK 8 billion in bank transfers from abroad.
