Small increase in bus costs

The cost index for passenger transport by bus experienced an increase of 0.4 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2014 to the same quarter in 2015. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015, the index increased by 0.5 per cent.

The sub-index for labour costs increased the most from the 2nd quarter of 2014 to the 2nd quarter of 2015; an increase of 3.0 per cent. From the 1st quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2015 there was an increase of 0.4 per cent. Labour costs are the main component of the overall index and constitute 56 per cent of the total cost.

Reduced fuel costs

The sub-index for fuel declined by 4.7 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014. However, compared to the 1st quarter of 2015 fuel costs increased 0.8 per cent.

Decrease in capital costs

The sub-index for capital costs declined the most from the 2nd quarter of 2014 to the 2nd quarter of 2015, with 10.1 per cent. However, from the 1st quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2015 there was an increase of 1.4 per cent. The change in capital costs follows changes in interest rates. Interest rates are based on 10-year bonds from the central bank, which are adjusted for inflation with CPI-ATE (CPI adjusted for tax changes and excluding energy products).
