Small decrease in bus costs

The cost index for passenger transport by bus experienced a decrease of 0.1 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2014 to the same quarter in 2015. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2014, the index increased by 0.1 per cent.

The sub-index for capital costs declined the most in the period from the 1st quarter of 2014 to the 1st quarter of 2015; a decrease of 18.4 per cent. From the 4th quarter of 2014 to the 1st quarter of 2015 there was a decline of 3.3 per cent. The change in capital costs is mainly due to changes in interest rates. Interest rates are based on 10-year bonds from the central bank, which are adjusted for inflation with CPI-ATE (CPI adjusted for tax changes and excluding energy products). 

Reduced fuel costs

The sub-index for fuel declined by 7.7 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2014, and compared to the 4th quarter of 2014 there was a decrease of 3.5 per cent. 

Labour costs increased

The sub-index for labour costs went up 3.1 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2014 to the 1st quarter of 2015. From the 4th quarter of 2014 to the 1st quarter of 2015 the increase was 1.2 per cent. Labour costs are the main component of the overall index and constitute 56 per cent of the total cost. 

Administrative and repair costs more expensive

Sub-indices for administrative and repair costs had a growth of 2.9 and 2.5 per cent respectively from the 1st quarter of 2014 to the 1st quarter of 2015. Since the 4th quarter of 2014, the increases for both sub-indices were 0.8 per cent.
