58 per cent of goods transported by foreign lorries

A total of 14 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorry to and from Norway by road in 2013. Of this, the foreign-registered lorries had a share of nearly 58 per cent.

A total of 15.8 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorry to and from Norway in 2013; an increase of 4.6 per cent compared to 2012. Of this, 1.8 million tonnes were transported by ferry, either by lorry or trailer. The export of goods increased by 7.9 per cent to 6.7 million tonnes, while the import increased by 2.2 per cent to 9.1 million tonnes.

Norwegian lorries dominate the export

Norwegian lorries transported 66.7 per cent of goods out of Norway, but only 24.6 per cent to Norway in 2013.

Increase in activity for lorries from Poland and the Baltic countries

The Polish lorries’ share of the border transport went up from 5.6 per cent to 6.1 per cent in 2013. The Baltic countries’ share increased from 5.6 per cent to 5.9 per cent.

Increase in the 4th quarter

In the 4th quarter, 3.5 million tonnes were transported across the border. This is an increase of 4.7 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter in 2012. The market share of the Norwegian lorries constituted 42.4 per cent; a slight increase compared to the same quarter in 2012.
