Increased border transport by Polish lorries
Lorries transported 3.4 million tonnes of goods across the border between Norway and neighbouring countries during the second quarter of 2012. The share of transport by Polish lorries increased the most.
A total of 1.8 per cent more goods were transported across the border in the 2nd quarter of 2012 than in the previous quarter. Compared with the 2nd quarter last year, the increase was 5.6 per cent. In total, 2 million tonnes of goods were imported by lorries, while 1.4 million tonnes were exported.
Norwegian lorries transported 40.9 per cent of goods that crossed the border in the 2nd quarter. This is 1.2 percentage points less than in the corresponding quarter last year. The share of Swedish, German and Finnish lorries’ border transport to and from Norway fell slightly, while the share for Danish, Polish and Baltic lorries increased slightly.
These figures cover goods transported by lorries passing the national border on road. Imports and exports by lorry on a ferry are not included. |
