More border transport by lorry
Lorries transported 3.3 million tonnes of goods across the border between Norway and one of the neighbouring countries during the second quarter of 2008. This is 270 000 tonnes, or 8.9 per cent, more than in the corresponding quarter the year before.
Norwegian lorries accounted for 44.9 per cent of the transport across the border, against 45.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2007.The biggest increase in quantity transported across Norway’s border was by the German lorries. They transported 106 000 tonnes of goods in the second quarter of 2008 against 72 400 tonnes in the second quarter of 2007, a rise of 46.3 per cent.
These figures cover goods transported by lorries passing the national border on road. Import and export by lorry on ferry are not included. |
