141 000 lorries across the border
More than 141 000 lorries carried 2.2 million tonnes goods to and from Norway in the 3rd quarter 2001. This is an increase of 2.1 per cent from the same period last year. Tonnage carried inward to Norway increased by 7.4 per cent, while tonnage carried outward from Norway decreased by 5.2 per cent.
Half of the total tonnage carried over the border passed Svinesund, an increase in number of cars and tonnage carried of 7 per cent. The tonnage carried through Svinesund and Hån/Ørje accounted for 69 per cent of the total, similar to the the same period last year.
The share of Norwegian lorries stable
Norwegian lorries share carried almost 43 per cent of the total amount of goods, the same figures as in 2000. This constitutes almost 1 million tonnes of goods. The Swedish lorries held a share of 38 per cent, while the Danish and Finnish lorries accounted for 13 per cent of the total tonnage carried.
