Slight increase in carriage of goods
Approximately 2.2 million tonnes were carried to and from Norway in the 3rd quarter 2000, an increase of 1.3 per cent from the same period last year. 434 600 lorries passed in and out of the country with 6.9 million tonnes goods in the first nine months of 2000.
137 500 lorries passed the border in the 3rd quarter 2000, the increase from 1999 was 1.3 per cent.
The Norwegian vehicles carried a share of 43.1 per cent of the total tonnage carried across the border in the 3rd quarter 2000, while the Swedish registered vehicles carried a share of 38.1 per cent. The figures for the same period in 1999 were 43.8 and 38.2 per cent, respectively. In the nine first months of the year the Norwegian vehicles carried over 3.0 million tonnes goods in and out of Norway, an increase from 1999 of 3.2 per cent.
The traffic over Svinesund is stable
Svinesund Custom Office carried a share of 48 per cent of the total tonnage carried, almost the same as in the same period 1999.
