Increase in carriage of goods

2.3 million tonnes were carried to and from Norway in the second quarter 2000. This is an increase of more than 4 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. 297 100 lorries passed in and out of the country with 4.7 million tonnes goods during the first six months of 2000.

More than 146 000 lorries passed the border in the second quarter 2000.The increase from 1999 was 3.9 per cent.

The Norwegian vehicles carried a share of 42.7 per cent of the total tonnage carried in the second quarter 2000. The Swedish registered vehicles carried a share of 38.3 per cent. The figure for the same period in 1999 was 37.7. During the first six months of 2000 the Norwegian vehicles carried almost 2.1 million tonnes goods in and out of Norway, an increase of 5 per cent from 1999.

Increasing traffic over Svinesund

Over Svinesund Custom Office more than 69 100 lorries carried more than 1.1 million tonnes goods in and out of Norway in the second quarter. This is an increase of 4.7 per cent from the same period last year. Svinesund Custom Office had a share of 46 per cent of the total tonnage carried. In the first six months of the year the tonnage carried over Svinesund increased by 6.7 per cent from 1999.

Over Hån/Ørje and Eda Custom Offices almost 48 000 lorries with goods passed the border in the second quarter, almost identical with the figure from the same period in 1999.
