2,4 million tonnes was carried to and from Norway in the 1st quarter 2000. The increase is over 12 per cent from the same period last year. 87 000 lorries carried approximately 1,4 million tonnes in to Norway. Almost 1 million tonnes was carried out of Norway by approximately 63 000 lorries.

Almost 151 000 lorries passed the border in the 1st quarter 2000, the increase from 1999 was 11.7 per cent.

The Norwegian vehicles carried over 1 million tonnes in and out of the country in the 1st quarter 2000, an increase of 10.4 per cent from the 1st quarter 1999. This is 44.8 per cent of the total tonnage carried. In the 1st quarter 1999 the same share was 45.2 per cent. The Swedish registered vehicles carried out 36.9 per cent of the total tonnage carried, in the same period 1999 the share was 36.3 per cent.

The traffic over Svinesund Custom Office increased by 8.6 per cent from the 1st quarter 1999, and made 1.1 million tonnes carried by the end of the 1st quarter 2000. This made 46 per cent of the totale tonnage carried. Almost 72 000 lorries with goods over Svinesund Custom Office, while Hån/Ørje Custom Office was passed by over 32 000 vehicles. This was together 69 per cent of all lorries with goods which passed in or out of Norway in th 1st quarter 2000, approximately the same as in the same period in 1999.
