The statistics cover persons aged 20-66 years. As from 2015, the statistics are based on new data sources (a-ordningen), see further details in «About the statistics». Because of this the years as from 2015 are not comparable with previous years. The total employment figure for the fourth quarter of 2015 is 60 000 lower than in the [Labour Force Survey (LFS)](https://www.ssb.no/tabell/aku_en). The total figure in these two statistics was coordinated in previous years, thus showing the same number of employees. The new data source has provided the statistics with better quality. The quality improvements are particularly visible for employees on short-term stays (not registered as resident). Due to limitations in the data sources we used up to 2014, we included too many employees on short-term stays. The decline we see for this group from 2014 to 2015 is thus not real. East European countries are included in category EU members in Eastern Europe from the year they became members. New EU countries after 2004 include the following countries, from the year they joined the EU (in brackets): Poland (2004), Lithuania (2004), Estonia (2004), Latvia (2004), Slovakia (2004), Czech Republic (2004), Hungary (2004), Slovenia (2004), Romania (2007), Bulgaria (2007), Croatia (2013). For the years 2004-2021, the countries Malta and Cyprus are in the group 'EU/EFTA until 2004 except the Nordic countries', while from 2022 the countries are in the group 'New EU countries after 2004'.
