STN area: The area of activity of the Sami Parliament subsidy schemes for business development (STN). For the years 2007 and earlier: Based on the 2009 definition of the STN area. For 2008-2010 the definition of the area based on the 2011 definition of the STN area. For 2011 and 2012 the definiotion of the area based on the 2012 definition of the STN area.
Other areas: Areas North of Saltfjellet outside the area of activity of the Sami Parliament subsidy schemes for business development (STN).

Urban settlements with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants
An agglomeration of houses is recorded as an urban settlement if at least 200 persons live there. The distance between houses must not normally exceed 50 metres. Clusters of houses up to a distance of 400 metres from the centre of the urban settlement which naturally belong to the settlement may nonetheless be included.

An agglomeration of houses is recorded as an urban settlement if at least 200 persons live there. The distance between houses must not normally exceed 50 metres.
