Fewer people baptised and confirmed

A total of 38 4000 persons were baptised, 41 200 were confirmed and 37 670 were buried by the Church of Norway in 2012. The proportion of baptised people to births was 64 per cent; a fall from 66 per cent in 2011. Sixty-four per cent of all 15 year-olds were confirmed in the church. A total of 90 per cent of the deceased received a church burial. The number of church weddings was 8 900.

A total of more than 6 million persons attended services held by the Church of Norway. On average, 93 attended each service; less than the year before, but the same level as in 2010. A total of 65 000 services were held.
