Norway’s renewable share

The EU's renewable energy directive came into force in Norway at the end of 2009. The implication is that the share of renewable energy in the total energy consumption will rise to 67.5 per cent, while the share of renewables in transport will increase to 10 per cent in 2020. A crucial way of increasing the share of renewable energy is a joint certificate scheme with Sweden, where Norway and Sweden combined will produce 26.4 TWh of renewable electricity production by 2020. Sweden has proposed to increase this target to 28.4 TWh.
