Drop in exports of crude oil

Norway exported NOK 28.8 billion worth of goods in November, 1.9 per cent less than in November last year. The decline is due to a 13.1 per cent drop in the export value of crude oil.

The value of crude oil exports in November was NOK 11.6 billion. Both price and volume were lower in November this year compared to November last year. Preliminary price estimates show an oil price of NOK 133 per barrel, compared to NOK 143 last year. The volume was 6.6 per cent lower than last year, but is still on a level with earlier months this year. This must be seen in light of the particularly high export volume in November 1996.

Traditional goods

Total exports of traditional commodities in November amounted to NOK 14.7 billion, up NOK 6.9 per cent from the same month last year. Exports of fish came to NOK 2.5 billion, nearly 20 per cent higher than in November last year. Even higher was the increase for metals except for iron and steel, where exports in November totalled NOK 2.1 billion, against NOK 1.7 billion in November last year.
