52 per cent increase in trade with Russia

Norway increased its imports of traditional Russian goods by NOK 0.5 billion to NOK 1.5 billion from January to April this year, compared with the same period last year. This is an increase of 52 per cent. Norway imports first and foremost metals from Russia, while Russia was the largest recipient of frozen salmon.

Russia and Poland are the largest customers of Norwegian exports in Eastern Europe. In the first quarter Norway exported around NOK 760 million worth of traditional exports to Russia, an increase of NOK 170 million or 28 per cent. Russia therefore moved up from 16th to 13th place among Norway's largest export markets. Norway's largest customer in Eastern Europe is still Poland, which took delivery of NOK 790 million worth of goods in the first four months of this year, an increase of 23 per cent.
