Balance of payments, September 1996:

Norway has NOK 6.4 billion surplus

Preliminary figures show a current account surplus of NOK 6.4 billion in September 1996. The decline in the surplus compared to August is primarily the result of growth in imports of other goods. The export surplus of goods and services in the first nine months of this year totalled NOK 70.2 billion, NOK 25.7 billion more compared to the same period in 1995. The breakdown of the surplus in 1996 is merchandise, NOK 63.6 billion, and services, NOK 6.6 billion.
