Hotels see business dip in April

The number of overnight stays at Norwegian hotels dropped by 15,000 bookings in April 1996 compared to April 1995. This is a decrease of two per cent. Foreign traffic was almost unchanged, which means the change is due to a decline in the number of Norwegian bookings.

Despite the decline in April, the number of overnight stays for the first quarter of this year is 0.8 per cent higher compared to the same quarter last year.

With the exception of Sweden, the largest foreign markets (Denmark and Germany) and the domestic market accounted for biggest declines in April. The number of Danish bookings dropped 15 percent from 28,000 in April 1995 to 24,000 this year. German bookings were down 13 per cent.
