From 2006, it is used prices that Statistics Norway collects in connection with the consumer price index. For engine fuels, the prices are based on 100 observations, distributed over the whole country. Prices for heating oil is based on the oil companies oil supply of standard quality to five different places in Norway. Prises includes additions for driving and delivery, and average discount on deliveries of 2000 liters. On basis of these prices, an average is calculated.
In 2000, the taxes on auto diesel were changed twice, while the taxes on both auto diesel and gasoline were changed twice in 2001 and 2008. The taxes used in the table are estimated as an average.
Paper and paper products and energy intensive manufacturing are not included.
Refers to auto diesel oil that contains less than 0,005 per cent sulphur, by weight.
Refers to light heating oil that contains less than 0,05 per cent sulphur, by weight.
The prices are not comparable before and after 2006, because data from Statistisc Norway's consumer price index are used as a source from 2006 while the oil companies list prices were used previous to this. The oil price based on the price index is more representative because discounts are deducted from this.
Before 2006, the prices followed the following criteria:The prices of petroleum products are valid in the 0-zone, i.e. areas where no transportation costs are added to the prices. The average list prices of motor gasoline and auto diesel are retail prices at the filling stations. Prices of kerosene and light domestic fuel oil include transportation to the consumer in quantities of respectively 0-2999 litres and 2 400-3 999 litres.
