How to use StatRes

The publication of statistics and indicators in StatRes is organised in three levels: the main page, homepages for specific areas or parts of the state, and StatBank Norway.

The Main Page

The main page is accessible from Statistics Norway's homepage at http://www.ssb.no/statres_en. The page presents news in the form of short press releases as and when new figures are published. This is done in the same way as for other publication of current statistics.

The left-hand pane of the main page contains a list of the different areas or sections of StatRes. The areas have their own homepages and this list provides an entry point to them. Below this list are links to various documents providing help and explanations.

The right-hand pane contains information about forthcoming publications and links to other relevant statistics from Statistics Norway or other producers of statistics.

Homepages

The homepages provide statistics and indicators for various areas or parts of the state. The homepage for Central Government provides statistics and indicators at aggregated and national level compiled for the entire central government administration.

The other homepages present indicators for the area in question. The indicators shed light on statuses and trends within the area in recent years. They are classified as indicators for resource input, activities and services, outcomes and unit costs and productivity. Some related indicators are also presented. At present, the areas do not have indicators for all classifications, but these will be forthcoming as StatRes is developed. The various indicators and terms are explained in more detail in the documents About StatRes and Explanation of terms.

The indicators presented on the homepages give figures at national level. You can use these as a basis for specifying your own selection and creating your own tables. Below each class of indicators, there are options for selecting statistics at a more detailed level. For example, for universities and technical colleges, you can select one or more institutions, to generate a new table of statistics for them alone. This table can be regenerated, and the contents displayed graphically. The table can also be downloaded and saved in various formats.

In the left-hand pane of the homepages, there is also a list of the different areas or sections of StatRes, with links to their homepages. Below this list are links to documents providing help and explanations.

In the right-hand pane are links to the latest press releases published within the area in question. There is also a link to StatBank Norway, which provides access to all published data within the area and allows you to compile your own tables.

StatBank Norway

StatBank Norway is Statistics Norway's system for publishing detailed statistics. It provides access to detailed data and the option for you to select the scope, level of details and contents for a table, and then download this for further editing.
