Key figures ready for municipal activities

The key figures in KOSTRA (Municipality-State-Reporting) provide information on most of the municipal and county municipal activities, including economy, schools, health, culture, the environment, social services, public housing, technical services and transport and communication.

The figures focus on the priorities, productivity and the coverage of needs, using a vast number of key indicators.

Data entry at a lower level than last spring

All of the municipalities and county municipalities have reported their data. The entry percentage is at a lower level than previous years. While the entry of extracts from municipal accounts has decreased, the entry of forms for the service areas is at the same level as earlier.

Nearly 91 per cent of the municipalities and all the county municipalities have reported extracts from their accounts. Forty of the municipalities have not managed to report valid operational and capital accounts. Reporting for the service areas is on average at the same level as for March 2009. The county municipalities only lack a couple of forms. In addition, data have been collected from several sources outside Statistics Norway, from directorates that also collect data from the municipalities.

New version of IPLOS

During the last six months of 2009, a new version of IPLOS was introduced. Alterations in the data contents and adjustments in information technology may have consequences for the results presented. The results for 2009 will not necessarily be comparable to data published for previous years.

New this year

Eight fact sheets with consolidated accounts show key figures and basic data for the county administrational companies’ use of resources and services for the purposes of culture, transport and communication, business activities and employment in county municipalities.

Ten fact sheets with consolidated accounts show key figures and basic data for the municipal companies’ use of resources and services for the purposes of municipal health services, social care, social services, business activities and employment in municipalities.

When possible, the key figures with consolidated accounts should be used to ensure comparability.
