Data for research

We would like to welcome you to our first working version of the web service that contains detailed documentation on a number of data collections, including cross references to underlying documents. Conditions and agreements, details of the Ombudsman for Privacy in Research and the necessary links etc. can all be found here.

The pages are being developed on an ongoing basis and more data collections are gradually being added. The functionality is also being expanded. The pages are still limited with regard to the scope of data collections that are referred to, but should nevertheless be well suited as a basis for ordering data and for retrieving detailed documentation on a number of topics.

We call particular attention to the following:

• The variable lists for each data collection that are shown have in a number of cases a link to a definition of each individual variable. These types of links to variable information will be gradually expanded.
• The function that will enable users to create an exact specification of required variables for a data set has not been developed yet, but will be in place by 1 June 2006.
• Under Data collections/Labour market – Register-based recruitment file, a separate document has been entered concerning the consistency between various registers for this topic, see the Employer/Employee Register – consistency with other data sources. This is a provisional version, and we are especially interested in comments on content and structure with regard to improvements and similar documents for other registers.

To the greatest degree possible, we wish to meet the requirements and wishes that the Norwegian environment for social research has for such a web service.
