Below is a summarised overview of data sets that are often used in research. This data is linked to a person, establishment, enterprise or other individual unit. Details are given of where data can be ordered, which bodies can grant exemptions from confidentiality requirements and the legal basis for confidentiality requirements.

De-identified data at an individual level (person or other unit) is, in practice, always subject to confidentiality. Research institutes must apply to the body responsible for approval to receive data for their project.
