Search guide

Numbers are not indexed and not searchable. Very common words (e.g. it, is, has, one) are not indexed and will not give any results.

You can use wildcards. You can provide text (whole or incomplete word), end it with ‘*’ and thereby search on all words beginning with the text you gave, e.g. house* would give a result for houses and for households. You can also search for more than one word at a time.

You can choose to present the order of the results by rank, or by title.

A result in which many search words occur, will have a high rank. The rank is always relative so that the highest rank is always 100 and presented at the top of the result list.

Variable definitions: If this metadatatype box is selected, then a search will be carried out amongst all variable definitions. The system searches e.g. in the name and definition of the variable for the text.

Classifications: If this metadatatype box is selected, then a search will be carried out amongst all standard classifications. The system searches in the title of the standard classification and in the titles of the codes.

Codelists: If this metadatatype box is selected, then a search will be carried out amongst all codelists. The system searches in the name of the codelist and in the code texts.
