RSS is an alternative way of reading news when you want to follow the stream of news on the Internet. To read the news you need a separate program, a RSS-reader, in addition to your browser. In this reader you fill in the addresses of the web sites you want to follow. The program checks, updates and notifies you when news arrives.
This is a service for the distribution of news from www.ssb.no in XML format. The XML document contains a general description with a link to www.ssb.no, logo and a list of today's releases from Statistics Norway. Although this service has been available for around three years, it has now been completly rewritten so you can tailor your RSS feed spesifically to your needs. Questions, comments and suggestions can be e-mailed to webgruppa@ssb.no
The last number in the URL is the number of days you wish to go back. If you omit the number, you will get the statistics for the last 3 days.
All statistics have a short name, or alias. You can use as many of these in combination to make an RSS feed with only the statistics you specify. You have to use + to delimet the different statistics you want to have in your feed. You can find a list of valid short names here
In these examples we have used the short names kpi, bpi and lonnkvart which cover the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the House Price Index and the Quarterly Index on Earnings.
The subject areas are the hiearchical tree of different statistics published by Statistics Norway. You can specify one, two or three levels. The subject areas can also be combined with as many other subject areas and for as many levels as you want. An overview of the different subject areas is available here.
Subject area 08 is Prices, price indices and economic indicators, while 08.02 is Price indices and 08.02.30 is House price indices and construction cost indices.
You can also tailor your RSS feed to use a combination of statistics and subject areas
It is also possible to get the latest updated tables from our output database Statbank as RSS-feed. Add "statbank/" after "rss/" in the address. Incidentally the principles are the same as described earlier.
