The global demand for official statistics is growing steadily. To this end, Statistics Norway has compiled a guide to dissemination, together with the international organisation PARIS21. "User friendly presentation of statistics" is aimed at helping statistics agencies in developing countries to devise strategies and guidelines for the dissemination of statistics. (20.11.2009)

Statistics Norway has introduced a new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC2007), for use in connection with its statistics on industry. This new classification provides a more suitable and updated description of the activity concerning both the private and public sectors, with more focus on service industries. (03.03.2009)
State Mediator Svein Longva passed away on 16 April aged 65, after a 2-year fight against cancer. The grief felt over Svein Longva's passing is particularly strong in Statistics Norway, where he worked for most of his working life, including as Director General for the last 14 years up to 2005.
