55 people killed in summer traffic

Fifty-five persons were killed in road traffic accidents during the summer months June, July and August. This is three less than last year, but 16 more compared to 2012. The average for the 10-year period 2004-2013 was 66 fatalities.

In August 2014, 18 persons were killed in road traffic accidents according to preliminary figures; seven less than in August last year. The average for August over the last 10 years is 23 fatalities.

Of the fatalities last month, 14 were men and four were women. Six of the fatalities were car drivers, three were car passengers, three were motorcyclists, five were cyclists and one was a pedestrian.

A total of 115 persons have been killed in traffic accidents on Norwegian roads so far this year.
