Growth for food and beverage services

Value added in the division food and beverage service activities rose by almost 7 per cent from 2012 to around NOK 20 billion in 2013. The number of local KAUs grew by around 3 per cent to 10 100 in 2013..

The sub-class ‘operation of restaurant and cafes’ is by far the largest sub-class in the division ‘food and beverage service activities’, and its turnover rose by 5.5 per cent to NOK 32 billion in 2013.

 Increase in turnover for 'event catering activities'

The turnover in the sub-class ‘event catering activities’ increased to NOK 4.6 billion, which is 2.9 per cent more than in 2013. The value added was NOK 2.4 billion in 2013; up 9.8 per cent from 2012. Employment increased by 240 persons in 2013, and around 5 300 persons were working in this sub-class during the year.

Growth for ‘accommodation’

This division had a good year in 2013, with an increase in turnover to NOK 26 billion; a growth of 3.5 per cent from 2012. The value added increased to almost NOK 10.6 billion. Employment also went up, and a total of 30 000 persons were employed in this division in 2013. This is 1 100 persons more than in 2012.
