Protected areas can be located in more than one municipality, and cover both land and sea areas. The figures do not include flora- or fauna protections without area protection.

Each protected area is counted only once. But the sum of the different protection purposes can be higher, since each area can have several protection purposes.

Other protections

Include flora and fauna protection areas (biotop protections), and since 2006 nature relics with an area protection and biotops protected by the Wildlife Act are also included.
