New recipients of disability benefit is here defined as all who started a new spell of disability benefit, either for the first time or after a previously ended spell, and who where residents (of Norway) as of 1. January in the last year of the period.

Rehabilitation benefits is used as a common term for the allowances and benefits that stopped in February 2010 and where replaced with work assessment allowance (medical rehabilitation allowance, occupational rehabilitation allowance, time limited disability benefit).
