Net reproduction rate

Average number of live-born daughters born to a woman living through the child-bearing period, assuming that the existing fertility and mortality pattern will remain.

Age of birth, average

Age at birth (average/median) to be found for a cohort living through the age-specific fertility rates observed in the (reference) period. This 'hypothetical' age at birth is not being influenced by cohort size variations, as opposed to the 'observed' age at birth based on actual births in the period. In this case, however, the difference from 'observed' age is insignificant after 1940.

Age of birth, median

The age where one half of the women was younger or had exactly reached that age.

Observed mean age at first marital birth

Average age of those having their first child in the period, thus being influenced by cohort variations. The difference between observed an hypothetical age at first birth is probably similar to that of age at first marriage, never married.
