 | Norwegian media barometer We watch more television Sixty-three per cent of the Norwegian population read newspapers on an average day in 2011, compared to 64 per cent in 2010. This is not a clear change, but it continues the declining trend from the preceding years. Even though the percentage of TV viewers has not increased, we spend more time watching TV than we have done in the last 2-3 years. The percentage of book readers has not been higher for 20 years.

Survey of level of living 2011 Highly educated go skiing most often In the course of a year, eight out of ten Norwegians went hiking in the woods or the mountains. Four out of ten have been on shorter skiing trips, and those with a high education are most active.

Religious and life stance communities 10 per cent in religious and life stance communities At the beginning of this year, 10 per cent of the Norwegian population, or 484 500, were members of religious and life stance communities outside the Church of Norway. This represents an increase of about 8 per cent compared to the previous year. The Christian communities had the largest increase.

Cultural statistics Decrease in books and publication series In 2010, special and research libraries had a decrease in the number of books and publication series of 660 000, or three per cent. Nevertheless, lending by the public has risen by 160 000, or three per cent, since 2009.

Compared with the previous year, there were 400 fewer services with communion, while participants at those services increased by almost 19 000 or 2 per cent.  | Radio and television activities, structural business statistics Turnover increased by 1 per cent Turnover and employment in local kind of activity units (local KAUs) connected to radio and television activities are showing small changes from 2000 to 2001. Local KAUs had a turnover of about NOK 6.2 billion in 2001, and this was a growth of about 1 per cent compared with the year before. The number of local KAUs was approximately the same, but employment went down by 1 per cent.
