Imprisonments More and longer custody imprisonments On average, there were 3 624 prisoners per day in Norwegian prisons in 2010. This is 7 per cent more than the year before, and more than in any of the past 50 years. In addition, more sentences are now being served by means of electronic monitoring outside prisons.

Family counselling Longer duration of family counselling The number of cases dealt with by the family counselling service in 2010 was almost unchanged from the previous year. At the same time, there was a reduction in the number of man-years of 2.5 per cent. The average waiting time increased by two days, and the duration of the cases increased by 3 per cent from the year before.

Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration More than 7 per cent increase in retirement pension payments Statistics on the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) show that the expenditure on pension benefits increased by more than NOK 8 billion last year, to NOK 121 billion in 2010. From 2006, the expenditure on pension benefits increased by 33.5 per cent.

A total of 169 000 persons were registered as victims, which is 3.9 per cent fewer than the previous year. In recent years, the number of registered victims of violence has been stable, but there are fewer young victims and more female victims of violence.
