Prices in the industry group ‘air passenger transport’ increased 7 per cent from the first to second quarter of 2014. Compared to the second quarter of 2013, prices are down 11 per cent.

The price index for ‘air passenger transport’ ended at 97.2 in the 2nd quarter of 2014. The 11 per cent reduction follows a 5-year high.

Moderate to low growth in other industry groups

The total index for road freight transport went up 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter and 2.5 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2013. The sub-index in this industry group with the largest increase was ‘transport of petroleum products’, which went up 3.2 per cent from the same quarter in 2013.

In ‘storage and warehousing’, the index fell 0.8 per cent from the previous quarter, while the index of ‘cargo handling’ was unchanged during the same period. Both these indices have been stable over the last four quarters.

The index of ‘postal and courier services’ also posted a minor growth rate of 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter, but rose 5.1 per cent from the same quarter in 2013.
