NOK 22.2 billion in turnover

Preliminary figures show that enterprises within water supply, sewerage and waste had a total turnover of NOK 22.2 billion in 2013, which corresponds to an increase of 0.4 per cent compared to final figures for 2012.

Waste activities and materials recovery was still the largest industry, and its turnover of NOK 20.5 billion made up 92.4 per cent of the total turnover.

Turnover within waste activities and materials recovery consists of NOK 9.8 billion from waste collection, NOK 8 billion from materials recovery and NOK 2.7 billion from waste treatment and disposal.

Highest employment in waste activities and materials recovery

The number of persons employed within water supply, sewerage and waste in 2013 was 8 071. Eighty-six per cent of these were employed within waste activities and materials recovery. Of these, 4 343 worked with waste collection, 1 760 with materials recovery and 847 with waste treatment and disposal.
