Fewer moose killed by traffic

In the 2013/2014 hunting season, the number of moose killed by traffic decreased by more than 350 animals. In total, more than 900 moose were killed by car and more than 400 by train.

Registered mortality of cervids apart from regular hunting totalled 8 500. This represents a decline of 650 animals compared to the previous hunting season. In total, 5 200 cervids were killed by car and 650 by train.

Roe deer accidents most common

Roe deer are particularly vulnerable, and almost 3 800 roe deer were killed by traffic; 166 by train and 3 600 by car.

Killed for other reasons

In the 2013/2014 hunting season, the number of moose killed for other reasons was 1 265. The corresponding figure for roe deer and red deer was 745 and 368 respectively.
