Statistics on consumption
A number of Statistics Norway’s statisticians produce figures on the use of consumables and services in Norway.
The Survey of Consumer Expenditure gives a detailed overview of household expenditure on consumables and services and is based on a sample of households.
The Index of Household Consumption of Goods is an indicator of households’ purchase of goods, partly based on sales figures.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows price trends for goods and services purchased by private households. The Index of Retail Sales gives an overview of the development in the sale of goods purchased by households, excluding cars, motorcycles and petrol.
The national accounts (quarterly and annual) are based on the results of various statistics, and provide figures on household consumption, for example.
