Full-time employees in fish farming had average monthly earnings, excluding overtime pay, of NOK 38 500 as per 1 October 2012. This was a year-on-year increase of 2.1 per cent or NOK 800.

Fish farmers, which is the largest occupational group in fish farming, had average monthly earnings of NOK 34 700. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.3 per cent. Average monthly earnings of senior officials and managers were NOK 57 700, which gives a year-on-year growth of 0.9 per cent or NOK 500.

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises that cover a total of 3 221 full-time employees and 375 part-time employees. According to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments as per October 2012, fish farming activities comprise 5 600 employees in total.

Basic salary is measured as per 1 October, while bonuses, variable additional allowances and payment for overtime work are calculated from the annual sum as a monthly average.
